Bank is a play on the conventional piggy bank, complete with a coin slot and cork stopper. However, the belly is exposed, ribs and all, which makes the act of saving a conundrum. What are we saving for, exactly? Bank arose in contemplation with one’s relationship with money and our spending habits - how do we save for an unknown future? How does our relationship with money and the act of saving for the unknown define us?
Bank is made with Babu porcelain. The main pieces are wheel thrown then added on top with details. Once sculpting is finished, the piece is slowly dried and then fired for the first time. It is then glazed and fired once more for the piece to reach its fully vitrified state. Selective details are then adorned with precious 22 karat gold and luster fired.
